Learning how to jumpstart a car is a valuable skill for anyone to possess, but many drivers don't learn the basics until an emergency strikes. Luckily, jumpstarting a car is not difficult with the right technique. Want to stay prepared on the road? Learn how to use jumper cables with our step-by-step guide.

Before You Start

  5. Turn the engine on the working car and allow the vehicle to run for several minutes.
  6. Try to start the vehicle with the dead battery. If you can't start it, give it five more minutes.
  7. If the car starts, drive around for at least 15 minutes to recharge.
