Mazda just held a celebration at their R&D Center in Irvine, California, to show off some new qualities of their 2017 cars. The biggest changes that have happened for the Mazda3 and Mazda6 are new soundproofing, a more extravagant interior with premium materials, and some exterior styling details. The CX-9 has also received a body upgrade for improved handling.

This compact car comes in two different styles, a hatchback and a sedan. Mazda has used a style that’s become known as defragmentation thematic. The goal of the style is to give the car a three-dimensional quality that displays its depth and height. The wide grille, prominent nose, and headlamp become prominent features on this futuristic looking car body.

On the interior, Mazda has taken all of the materials to the next level, using top of the line products. You’ll never have to get in your car and drive with gloves again as the Mazda3 now includes a leather wrapped and heated steering wheel to keep your hands toasty warm while driving. For storage, the center console has been updated to a model inspired by the Mazda6 that slides open for easy access and the door panels have three times the space of the 2016 Mazda3. If you’re looking for some new technology, you can add in tons of safety features such as blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, and Active Driving Display. Also, an electronic parking brake now comes standard in the Mazda3.

In 2016, the Mazda6 went through an entire interior redesign, but Mazda still stepped up their game for the 2017 version. This year, Mazda focused on soundproofing the vehicle, creating improved door seals, and adding insulation to the underbody, rear console, headliner, and doors, as well as adding in a thicker front windshield to reduce road noise. It’s important to note that the Mazda6 is one of the only midsize sedans to offer buyers the choice between an automatic or standard six speed transmission.

As for the interior, you can now get premium, Nappa leather upholstery with colored piping to add a little flair. Travel in style while keeping your passengers happy with heated rear seats and your fingers toasty with a heated steering wheel. This is the perfect car for those cold winters and transporting your friends or family around town.

The CX-9 is a great driving machine. It includes some of the same interior upgrades as the Mazda3 and Mazda6, but the most important change this year to note is the weight cut. Engineers brought the weight of the CX-9 down by 200 pounds and added in a 250 horsepower engine, making this a fast car that handles very well on the road. Put on top of that a great EPA fuel economy rating and you’ve got a fantastic car.

No matter which model of Mazda you’re interested in, know that the company has used premium materials in the interiors, added in safety measures, and created all around great handling cars.
