Under the 3 Hatchback's Hood
The 2017 Madza3 has two engine options. The first, available on the Sport and Touring trims, is a 2.0-liter inline-4 with a Skyactiv pedigree. This engine is good for 155 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 150 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm. The second engine, standard in the Touring 2.5 and Grand Touring trims, is a 2.5-liter inline-4 with a Skyactiv pedigree. This engine can get 184 horsepower at 5,700 rpm and 185 pound-feet of torque at 3,250 rpm. The fuel efficiency for the Mazda3 only goes down slightly with the larger engine, with 25/33 when paired with a six-speed manual or 26/35 with the six-speed automatic.
